An open road is an invitation to ride, especially when that road happens to lead to an isolated high mountain pass.

An open road is an invitation to ride, especially when that road happens to lead to an isolated high mountain pass. Himalayan Odyssey is the biggest, the toughest and the most fun-filled ride. In its seventh edition, the Odyssey, initiated by Royal Enfield Motorcycles, charted a course that extended the definition of arduous adventure riding. The 60 riders went beyond Khardung La Pass at an elevation of 5,359m, into Nubra valley and explored some virgin territory.

The youngest member of this entourage was all of 22 while the oldest touched 60, a testimony to the fact that where there is a will, there is a way. The 15-day Odyssey saw riders traverse mountain passes, roads freshly cleared of snow, tricky arduous stretches, winding paths and river crossings. It was a test of both men (and women) and machines, but the scenic beauty of the lush valleys, snow-clad mountains and limitless horizons more than compensated.
